I See You

A line in the movie Avatar that became kind of a catch phrase, and the title of the film’s theme song is “I see you.â€Â It is a way the indigenous characters in the film verbalize an intense connection.
As I left the theater after watching this film I heard people talking about this line and the scene it was in more than anything else other than the groovy 3-D effects. And I could feel it during the film. There was a noticeable change in the energy in the theater during this scene. But why?
Being seen would appear to be a very common occurrence in our day-to-day lives. Is it? (more…)
No Such Thing As Unhappierness
Posted on 29. Apr, 2010 by Ken Bechtel in The Goo Blog
I have set the intention to be honest with myself about my next steps in business and life. Everything from creating new products and that they will have value, to not drinking alcohol and eating better. Things are changing. But not really. I am just letting the true me come forward. It surprises me at times.
I am not sure what my diet will end up consisting of, but it is clearly shifting. I am a little worried about how it will appear to others. Again pre-judging others for me. I think eating consciously and not drinking alcohol will look all woo woo and superior and that others will not like me for it or not be able to relate to me, but that is just fear. (more…)
Pot Calling The Kettle Black
Posted on 27. Apr, 2010 by Ken Bechtel in The Goo Blog
There is a scene in an episode of the “Friends†television show where Phoebe is having a conversation with Monica and Monica tells Phoebe she really should not be acting a certain way when Monica acts this way all the time herself. Phoebe, in that wonderfully quixotic way of hers, steps out of the conversation, holds her hand to her ear like a telephone receiver and says, “Oh hello kettle, this is the pot…you’re black.â€
I love this scene. It happens more often than we realize. We are being the pot and we are not even aware of it. (more…)
Stop Pre-Judging
Posted on 26. Apr, 2010 by Ken Bechtel in The Goo Blog
During my meditation recently, I held the intention that I wanted to show up more honestly in my business and life. When I asked what step I could take to help fulfill this intention, I received the answer, “stop pre-judging myself for others.”  As confusing as that may sound to you, it made perfect sense to me.
I have a long history of convincing myself that I know what others will think of something I am considering doing, saying, wearing or whatever. Â How arrogant is that? (more…)
Calm Is Not Boring
Posted on 21. Apr, 2010 by Ken Bechtel in The Goo Blog
I know people that think calm equals boring. That being calm is like going through life in neutral.
As you heard on my radio show this week from life-saving expert Diane Sieg, calm stands for:Â Clarity, Awareness, Love and Meaning. Â Sounds pretty good huh?
Take a minute and apply these words to the things you will be doing today. Imagine feeling clarity in all your activities. (more…)
Resistance Is Futile
Posted on 20. Apr, 2010 by Ken Bechtel in The Goo Blog
Many people I know are experts at resisting change. I definitely qualify as a change resistor at times. I am sure you know a few folks like this as well.
This resistance always makes me laugh, because if I told them I was going to take away their right to change they would fight me tooth and nail to keep it.
We hate hearing that we have to choose what we want by a certain date because after that date we can’t change our choice. Even if our right to change is restricted for only a year, like with health insurance, we are uncomfortable with this limitation.
Change is why we are here in this life. I mean, what would be the point of living if we never changed? We would just be a bunch of little, uncoordinated, inarticulate bundles of human. If we did not change, we would be new born babies our entire life. (more…)
Bite Sized Transformations
Posted on 13. Apr, 2010 by Ken Bechtel in The Goo Blog
Transformations are often considered big things. Big ah ha’s. But most transformations, like most things in life, are composed of lots of little pieces.
I recently began a program called 30 Days to Grace by Diane Sieg. This program is a combination of conscious breathing, yoga poses, meditation and journaling.
When I started this program 30 days seemed like a long time. Then, yesterday, I thought to myself that I had completed 5 days of the program and was already 1/6th of the way to completion. Just like that I went from needing to repeat what I had done 30 more times to repeating what I had already accomplished just 6 more times. Throw Your Scale in The River

I was speaking with a friend of mine yesterday and she mentioned she weighed more than she had in a very long time but people were saying that she looked healthy.
She was having to get used to her body feeling different than it had. And it was strange.
Unfortunately, in our culture we place a great deal of importance on weight. As if a certain weight equals health. Now weight obviously plays a role, but it is not the only factor. (more…)
The Greatest Gift Ever!

When you see a butterfly do you see the caterpillar that it was? When you see a caterpillar, do you see the butterfly it will be?
Whether you do or not really makes no difference. Because the butterfly and the caterpillar are what they are, no matter what you think.
The way you can most honor the butterfly, the caterpillar or anything else is to see it for what it is in present time. Recognize the greatness that it is right now.  Not what it was in the past or what it has the potential to be in the future. (more…)
You Can’t Win If You Don’t Play
Posted on 01. Apr, 2010 by Ken Bechtel in The Goo Blog
I was talking with a friend the other day when the conversation turned to how they used to lack motivation for everything, even change. Â But now they were ready to change. Â Actually they were committed to changing. Â Enough was enough.
That is when it hit me. Â Making a commitment to change and acting on it is like playing a lottery that no one else knows about. (more…)
