I See You

A line in the movie Avatar that became kind of a catch phrase, and the title of the film’s theme song is “I see you.â€Â It is a way the indigenous characters in the film verbalize an intense connection.
As I left the theater after watching this film I heard people talking about this line and the scene it was in more than anything else other than the groovy 3-D effects. And I could feel it during the film. There was a noticeable change in the energy in the theater during this scene. But why?
Being seen would appear to be a very common occurrence in our day-to-day lives. Is it?
How often does someone really see you? I mean completely: the joys and the pains, the fears and the enthusiasms, the curiosities and the expertise. Being seen on this level is more than just a physical thing. It is being recognized on a spirit level.
I openly admit I have been hiding behind lots of camouflage and thick armor for many years.
I recently have made a conscious choice to step out into the light more honestly both physically and energetically. And what I realized is that I cannot expect my friends and family who have, up until now, only known this veiled version of myself to understand this version of me right away. After all, it is new to them.
I also realized that when they react with surprise and curiosity this is not negative. This is interest and support. They love me and love learning more about me. As my friend Carol has said to me many times, “We can’t wait to see who you really are, Ken Bechtel.â€
That is the funny part, they all know I have not been showing up completely. It is only I who think I had them fooled.
Who do you think you are fooling?
